We stayed here for five nights during our first visit to San Francisco. The hotel is an excellent location for visiting most of the main areas, both for walking or taking public transport. Our bedroom was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is perhaps less plush; we did think a dirty protest had taken place in the bathroom on first glance but it turned out to be a suspect marble pattern on the tiles! Towels and flannels were white and fluffy, however! I'd recommend staying here as a slightly cheaper option (in a very expensive city!) whilst still being a nice place to stay. The hotel is bright, colourful and modern-looking. We stayed in a loft room on the 4th (top) floor. Top tip: become an SPG member for free online to get wifi in your room so you don't have to sit in the lobby.

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel as part of our road trip. The room was really small compared to other hotels on the trip and was fairly old fashioned. We were across the driveway from the main hotel in a room on the first floor that looked out through an old metal window at the main foyer so cars were coming and going at all times of day and night and it was very noisy. On the plus side there was a nice heated swimming pool and an area outside the bar / café with fire pits where you could sit and have a drink. Breakfast was pretty expensive but was quite nice. The location is great - very close to Pier 39 and all the attractions. you can walk to the bus stops for the city tour buses and to the trams if you want to go further afield. Might be a nice place to stay if you have an upgraded room in the main hotel building.

Where do I begin!! Upon arriving at the hotel Jason greeted us helping us with our luggage. What surprised me was that he remembered us from our last stay which was over a year ago. It was just like he was welcoming us home. Jason was always there helping with taxis, directions, etc. Such a wonderful and friendly person. We then proceeded to check in. Even though the hotel has a special line for SPG members, it moved quite slowly due to a desk clerk trying to help a family with their room. I then moved to another line and it was the best thing I did. I was helped by a gentleman named Shon. OMG this person was absolutely unbelievable. He went way above and beyond trying to satisfy our needs with a room. He asked if we would like to have a view of the swimming pool. I commented that it should be okay because it was raining all that week and would not have thought the pool was being used. Shon did say that the pool is always in use whether rain or shine. Once we checked in our room I knew immediately that was not the room for us as an abundance of noise was coming from the pool. Being an elderly couple we prefer something less noisy. I called the front desk and was lucky enough to speak with Shon again. He said he would switch our room and would have the bellman bring up a new key. Being in a hurry to unpack and settle in I sent my husband down back to the lobby to pick up the key. Shon proceeded to give my husband a new key and told him he would find me and take me to the new room. Was I shocked when there was knock at the door and Shon was standing there. He said follow me…and escorted me to the new room which was absolutely perfect. We learned later the he happened to be one of the managers. To put the frosting on the cake for us is we received a bottle of champagne and basket of fruit from Shon. WOW!!! For this person to do so much for us was absolutely amazing. Needless to say the service we experienced while staying there was wonderful. We have been staying at this hotel for the last 25+ years when visiting the bay area. It is centrally located so you can hop on the street car, cable car and bus that will take you anywhere in the city. After receiving this wonderful experience we know we have made a right choice to stay at this hotel for many of our future visits.

This was one of the poorest hotel rooms we've stayed in for some time. It looked onto a side alley where it seems their service vehicles are parked regularly and was very noisy early in the morning. The room itself was cramped and the 'bathroom' was tiny and dark. I hate plastic shower curtains that stick to you as you move and I want space to shave and wash properly. Otherwise, some staff were really helpful while others were maybe less so. The reception area was actually quite pleasant and there is a nice little seating area outside with heated pits to keep away the chills.

We stayed here for 3 nights from April 17th with our two teenage boys and mother in law. We had interconnecting rooms which was nice. The rooms are clean and basic but comfortable. No wifi in the rooms which in this day and age isn't very good, and also the wifi in the public areas isn't very good. We had fresh coffee every day to make, clean towels and the bed was very comfy. The location was amazing - 5 mins walk to Fishermans Wharf. We also walked to Lombard Street from here which only took about 10 mins, and the financial district and Coit Tower was about a 30 min walk. The fire pits outside were nice to sit around although I thought the seat cushions could have done with a bit of a clean! Reception staff were very helpful. I needed to ring our airport transfer company to sort times, check into our flights online, and print boarding passes and the staff were only happy to help. The only real downside is that the walls are paper thin. We could hear people walking about above and people outside and the noise outside from the passing cable cars. I had ear plugs so I was ok I could sleep but if you don't like wearing earplugs this may keep you awake! Over all a lovely stay in a great location!
