We stayed two nights at the Marriott on a recent trip to wine country. We selected this property due to its proximity to Fisherman's Wharf and walkability to area attractions and restaurants. To our delight, the hotel had been renovated just six months ago. In fact, the rooms still had the "new" smell. We were impressed with the renovation because the entire room had been renovated including the entire bathroom. Front desk staff were very helpful as was the concierge. Service in the bar was also good. Despite the age of the hotel and outward appearance that some attention would be an improvement, we know the quality of the interior and the rooms and will stay there again.

We spent four nights here with family. The hotel was located right at Fisherman’s Wharf - perfect for sightseeing. Rooms were clean and attractive and the service was helpful and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone coming to sightsee in San Francisco. We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay here.

We've stayed here numerous times and it's always a nice place to stay. Clean, comfortable and never had bad service. People are people and we all have bad moods or issues at one time or another. Granted, not a good thing to be going through when you have to deal with people on a daily basis, but cut people some slack. We weren't treated the best by an individual at this hotel the first night but the following night, it was a different story. Almost a Jekyll and Hyde situation but neither of us took it personally. We both just wrote it off as "people are human." Could have been having a bad day. Could have been in pain. Am I right? Another point to make here is that sometimes, if you treat people in the hotel/restaurant/service industry like they are there to serve you and are just employees and not people, that might put them in a sour mood. Put yourself in their situation. If you are kind to people, it usually comes back to you. Just a thought. Great hotel. Great location. Great people.

We had stayed for 3 nights in our recent vacation and chose Marriott because of its proximity to Fisherman Wharf and brand. The location is very convenient with tourist sites so close and walking distance to most bus, cable car, ferry and tour centres; as most hotels in the area. The room is clean and well furnished. Only problem for me is the availability of amenities and friendliness of staff. As I had stayed in various hotels in the Marriott chain across the globe, this particular one does not have bathe robes and slippers which is something that I did not expect. Also when I enquire through the phone, the staff who responded to me on the two items was bland and direct which I don’t feel comfortable been told off in a tone as if I am asking an alien item. The response from other staff in my different interactions were also met with equal unemotional response. I would expect better interactions in Marriott. Despite the above, overall the experience is still relatively ok. Hope that things will get better.

Check-in - first impressions are not that great I have to say. The lobby area is small, and looks fairly worn. The thing that let me down the most was the service. The front desk associate who checked me was rude. One of the benefits of the rewards program is that time to time you can get an upgrade if inventory is available. I asked if this was available, and I got totally shut down - "no we are full". Then she informed me that the room type that I booked wasn't even available yet and there would be a wait. I understand this can happen when a hotel has a full house, but it was 2.45pm in the afternoon. Its been a long time since I have checked into a Marriott and had to wait - this property does seem to take a little longer to recover from full occupancy than others. Important information if you are looking for a hotel to check in early. Rooms: Nice and clean, however not very spacious. Location: Fantastic location - you really cannot get any better. You are within minutes of everything... only 15 min walk to pier 33 (alcatraz), or pier 39 for food/shopping/sight seeing etc. Amenities: There is largish sized bar in the lobby - had great service and the food was also very good.All other amenities are basic - no lounge/club for business travelers Value for money: Generally the rates are pretty good compared to most other Marriotts in the area. I would however after this experience stay at another property.
