Just returned from a 3 location trip to USA and spent 6 days at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. The standard of the rooms are great and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant and bar are beautiful too and child friendly. Lovely inside pool (glass ceiling and walls) and jacuzzi and good gym too. An outside feeling inside! There is a lovely elevated terrace to relax at with comfortable outdoor sofas if weather is good too. All in all, great central location and superb hotel.

"Not a business hotel, but sleep was great"

Given the stylish room and excellent bed+bedding, we had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The service we received was somewhat inconsistent. For instance, we experienced missing towels and shampoos after cleaning and an unfriendly checkout. Beyond these, we received good service. There was no shoehorn in the room, but they delivered a tiny plastic one after we asked. When we arrived, the outer surface of a white(!) dustbin was disgustingly dirty, but the bin was cleaned after we asked for it. The breakfast is ok, but not particularly great. We ate Japanese breakfast almost every day. The quality was good, but rice unfortunately overcooked. I had to work in the room as this was a business trip and was bothered by the lack of working desk (apparently they got rid of desks after the recent refurbishing). The staff delivered a tiny folding working desk with a comfortable chair after I requested. Upper floor vip area was comfortable for working. However, I would not personally choose this hotel for business in the future for this reason.

"Poor quality for price"

Room cards didn't work multiple times, and we were locked out for 20 minutes before an employee showed up. He was supposed to return with newly activated cards and never did. Poor bed quality and loud thermostat noises made it tough to sleep. Iron cord did not lock and kept rolling back into the iron base while ironing. Overall, very poor experience for such a high price. Location is great

"Club Level Is Horrible - Very Low Quality Level..."

My wife and I travel all over the world, and were looking forward to staying at Hotel Nikko, the website descriptions and pictures seemed very high end. However, the pictures were not very accurate... the room is much, much smaller than the pics indicate, and although the remodel is nice, the bathroom is really small, very short ceiling and tiny shower (this is their top club level room - and you could not stand in it without knocking something over... even for my petite wife). This could be forgiven, some hotel spaces are limited by the building footprint.. but what could not be forgiven is the poor, poor quality of what they call "Club Level". This is a $100 added perk which at most high end hotels provides much more in service and amenities.. ... Not so here. We went to the evening wine/cheese.... and it looked like a college frat had organized it.. cheese plate looked like a Costco special, a bowl with some soft drinks on ice... and another bowl with a couple of bottles of opened wine.... then in some container... edamame. Really? That is not a "Club Level" experience, it is a Days Inn/ Fairfield Inn type quality. "Breakfast" was no better ( we left and ate out...)... We have stayed at a number of high end hotels in the City, and this one was not even close to delivering quality.. We are often in Tokyo, and thought that the "Japanese" ownership of the hotel would translate to attention to detail... but not at all. Very, Very, Very disappointed. The sad thing is the staff are generally very kind and had very good attitudes.. but this cannot make up for management decisions to cut corners. (note, other than a very lousy young man at Check-In who made it clear he did not want to be there, most staff really tried hard and we appreciated their efforts, particularly the doorman and housekeeping)

My granddaughter and I celebrated a special birthday byflying to San Francisco and staying at The Hotel Nikko. The contrast of the outside hustle and fast paced activities with the serene and beautiful hotel is amazing. After a day of seeing sights with hotel rest stops in between made a wonderful holiday for us. Our room was immaculate and quiet. The staff warm and accommodating. We enjoyed breakfasts with lovely room service dined at the scrupmous Anzu restruant. Relaxed with newspapers in the lounge. Looking forward to a return trip to this elegant hotel.
