The hotel was excellent. It is centrally located and convenient for business. I had my family traveling with me and we were able to be accommodated as well. Overall I have stayed at this hotel a few times and always found it easy to find and a great place to stay

"Don't stay at the Hyatt"

Their computers don't work and you will have a terrible hassle checking out. they will tell you your credit card doesn't work and then after a half hour will say it was their computer not working. It is reasonably located near the Moscone Center but stay somewhere else for good service.

"Nice hotel but not a place to rest"

I would have given the Grand Hyatt a much better rating but, unfortunately, the night I spent there was quite stormy. In bed I kept hearing a crackling noise coming from the ceiling that made it impossible to go to sleep. I finally called the front desk and they advised me that this was part of the building's earthquake protection and what I was hearing was the building swaying in the wind. Obviously protecting against an earthquake is critical but there has to be a better way. I have stayed San Francisco on windy nights in the past in buildings that did not make noise. I asked other guests if they heard the same thing and everyone replied the same way: "yes and I did not sleep at all". Besides that, the hotel was fine except the fitness center was far too small to accommodate the guest numbers in the morning.

"We're having a wonderful stay so far!"

We arrived shortly after 1pm. There was a problem with the computer system so it took a bit longer to check us in. However, Ron at the front desk was really nice, and another lady came to help us with the check-in. They know that it's for my partner's birthday, and Ron gave us drink coupons and free food, and upgraded us to a bay view room! The view is amazing, and the room is very spacious and clean. So far we're really enjoying our stay, and glad that we chose to stay here. Thank you.

"Not as Luxurious as its Neighbors"

Of the various San Francisco hotels in which I have stayed (including one two blocks away), this is my least favorite. It started with our having a difficult time navigating the practically non-existent valet parking area. The hotel is in a heavily congested area at the intersection of two really busy one-way streets, with absolutely no off-street loading and unloading area. Inexplicably, the hotel's main entrance/valet area isn't even marked -- we drove by it the first time not realizing it is the hotel's main entrance, and had to navigate through several blocks of heavily congested traffic all over again to circle all the way back around and try again. After finally getting the car squared away, the reception area was nice enough, but in an effort to be modern looking, it also was a bit disorganized. There was no formal queue as such, and people kept cutting in what should have been the line. The room itself was a disappointment. I have stayed in a number of Grand Hyatts around the country and typically find them to be a significant cut above the standard Hyatt or Hyatt Regency, but did not get that impression upon entering this room. It was small, the ceiling relatively low, and the furnishings felt anything but upscale. The bathroom likewise was on the small side and seemed more like a standard mid-range hotel rather than a Grand Hyatt. The bathroom also did not feel as clean as it should have, with numerous rust stains and other stains in various places. The walls of the guest room were incredibly thin and anything but soundproof. I could hear nearly everything happening in the adjacent room, and assume they could do likewise. I wouldn't even call my wife from the room because I did not feel like I had any privacy. This is downtown San Francisco and rooms can be on the small side, but I have stayed in peer hotels in the immediate vicinity that felt much more luxurious and comfortable. For what I paid, I was disappointed, and likely would not stay here again.
