I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for two evenings over the weekend. It’s an excellent location! A centrally-located hotel always wins in my book. I was able to walk to both Union Square and Chinatown. The service was good and my room was quite spacious and clean. (I also had a nice view, always a bonus.)

When I first entered the room, it looked clean but very soon, I was really shocked. I could stand The black dust on the bed but there was someone's fingernails on the bed!!!! OMG... It's the worst hotel ever !!

"Good hotel, great location"

I stayed here a couple of times in December, just before Christmas. The check-in both times was fine and the staff were friendly, although a bit distracted at times. I was in a club room the first time and a standard room the second time. The club room was larger with a nicer view and it was on a higher floor. It also gave me access to the club lounge, which was a nice bonus but I'm not sure that it was worth the extra money. The food was good but there was a fee for the alcoholic drinks (honor system) plus it was pretty crowded during my visits. The rooms were good, nice beds, nice bathrooms (club room had a more spacious bathroom while we had to get the bathroom cleaned in the standard room since it was not cleaned when we arrived). My biggest complaint about both rooms was that each of them had an LED light that came on when you rolled off the bed during the night. It was a good idea in concept but it was pretty annoying since the light was bright enough to light quite a bit of area and there was no way to turn it off until it went off after about 10 seconds. The location of the hotel was outstanding as there were a ton of restaurants in the area and it was about a minute walk to Union Square and about ten minutes to many of the other tourist areas. The exercise room was on a top floor but it was pretty small and very crowded. It could definitely use an upgrade. All in all, it was a good stay, 3.5 out of 5. For the location alone, I would definitely consider staying there again.

Great location! But breakfast is expensive and hasn't many options... Besides, they charged my card US$5 for each mail Item delivered (both the packages and the letters!). As the Union Square region has many other lodging options, I would advise trying another one...

"Great location but needs some TLC!"

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 5 days for business. Check in was wonderful and I was even offered as much bottled water as needed for my stay. The room was very spacious but dated. It was located across from Union Square and easy access to anywhere. My one complaint and a bit disappointed with the hotel is that one day I had no house keeping. It was my last day/night and I was gone from early morning until just before midnight. When I returned after a long day, all I wanted to do was shower and get into bed. I wasn’t calling down to the front desk so late. When I checked out the following morning, I told the front desk and they did apologize. They asked why I wouldn’t have called to have them up to my room. I explained the time etc. I thought perhaps they would have offered to adjust the price or a voucher or something. They did not. At any rate, despite that, my stay was comfortable for the price and I would consider staying there again if the price was right.
