This is my second tour with these guys and it still remains in mind the best way to see SF quickly while learning heaps about its history and numerous quirky facts about this amazing city. Our guide Katey was excellent and kept us well informed , highly entertained and above all safe. Highly recomend to those young or old.

Had never been on a Segway before so we were a bit nervous but you have a bit of training at the beginning and they make sure you are confident before your tour. We covered the whole park and I would defiantly recommend this way to do it!! So much fun!

"Great way to see a part of Golden Gate Park"

We went on the Golden Gate Park Segway tour. The park is beautiful, and it is really big. The segway is fun and easy way to see a larger park than you could on foot, at least in just a couple hours. Our guide was Pretzel, who was a lot of fun and he did a good job of looking after everyone. For those concerned about riding Segways, don't be. Electric Tour Company provides both a training video and has you practice, but the things practically drive themselves. The majority of the people in our group had never ridden one before, and they got along just fine. One word of caution - for this tour, do not go to the Beach Street address. When we showed up there (the main address), the staff seemed really surprised to see us there and asked "How did you get this address?" If you have any competence at all with the Internet, it's not hard to get it. Fortunately we were early enough we could get a cab over to the park for the experience we signed up for.

I'd never been on a Segway before and was keen to have a go before I left the States. This tour of the Golden Gate Park combined the fun of Segway riding with some interesting facts about the park.

Frequently Asked Questions about The Official Golden Gate Park Segway Tour

Are there physical limitations for who can and cannot ride a Segway?
We offer a 45-50 minute training session for all Segway tour guests. However, riding and navigating a Segway is not an ideal situation for individuals with or a history of mobility issues.

All guests who wish to participate in the tour must be able to easily and quickly step on and off without assistance. This movement is similar to ascending and descending stairs without the use of a handrail.

Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in the tour due to the risk of falling when navigating the Segway. Due to the same risk, individuals above the age of 70 are not allowed to participate.

In an effort to ensure all guests are safe throughout the entire tour experience, we require that all guests must be age 12 or older and weigh at least 100 lbs.

I need to cancel my reservation. What is the process for doing so?
Any cancellations made by the listed cancellation date will receive a FULL REFUND with absolutely NO CANCELLATION FEES. Any reservations past the cancellation date cannot be changed or canceled.

What happens in the case of rain?
All tours run in light rain, fog, or shine. In the case that a tour is canceled due to extreme weather, you will be given the opportunity to join a future tour.

What time is my tour?
You will set your tour time when making your reservation.

Is parking available?
No. There are no onsite parking facilities available. It is recommended that guests park at one of the many lots and garages nearby or utilize public transportation.

What should I wear for the tour?
Closed-toed shoes are required for tour participation. Wearing an extra layer such as a light jacket is ideal for the San Francisco weather.

Will I be taught how to ride a Segway?
Yes. All riders are thoroughly trained prior to the tour. Training instruction includes safe Segway operation, emergency stops, a safety cone course, and the “Share the Road” policy overview. Every rider is required to wear a helmet and wear a bright safety vest.
