Having done Segway tours in many cities, we were excited to do it in San Francisco with all the hills. It surpassed our expectations, including getting to ride down Lombard Street twice. The fact that it was just me and my fiancee with our tour guide was a special treat. Even as she shared the history of the city with us, Melanie always pointed out bumps or told us "lean forward" or "lean back" so even though we didn't get a formal instruction, she continued to look out for our well-being. Melanie had a great personality and we truly enjoyed her commentary. She made a big deal out of the fact that we had just gotten engaged the day before. I also loved having the headset so we could hear her at all times... I had never had that before on a Segway tour. I think Electric Tour Company has spoiled me!

My 15 year old daughter and I took a tour in Golden Gate Park with Jeff and had a fantastic time! We learned so much about the park and saw/discovered and enjoyed so many different sections. Who knew there was such a thoughtful variety of environments. Jeff is so informative and made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions. It is pricey but WORTH IT. You’re basically riding around on a rolling computer. Surrender to your inner nerd and do this!

This was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Cass, our guide, struck the right note between safety and fun. The tour takes you to many great places near fisherman‘s wharf. Riding a Segway seems intimidating at first but after the great instructions they gave you, it becomes intuitive and fun. Be warned that if you go at this time of year it gets pretty cold pretty quickly and so you’re well advised to take them up on their offer of extra jackets and gloves.

What a great way to see and experience Golden Gate Park! I recommend it highly. We have been to Golden Gate Park many times but saw on this tour many little crooks and crannies that we never knew were there. Thank you to Jeff, our tour guide, for excellent instructions and training and for many of the stories about Golden Gate Park and its beginnings. Don't ask.....just do it! You will not regret it!

Frequently Asked Questions about The Official Golden Gate Park Segway Tour

Are there physical limitations for who can and cannot ride a Segway?
We offer a 45-50 minute training session for all Segway tour guests. However, riding and navigating a Segway is not an ideal situation for individuals with or a history of mobility issues.

All guests who wish to participate in the tour must be able to easily and quickly step on and off without assistance. This movement is similar to ascending and descending stairs without the use of a handrail.

Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in the tour due to the risk of falling when navigating the Segway. Due to the same risk, individuals above the age of 70 are not allowed to participate.

In an effort to ensure all guests are safe throughout the entire tour experience, we require that all guests must be age 12 or older and weigh at least 100 lbs.

I need to cancel my reservation. What is the process for doing so?
Any cancellations made by the listed cancellation date will receive a FULL REFUND with absolutely NO CANCELLATION FEES. Any reservations past the cancellation date cannot be changed or canceled.

What happens in the case of rain?
All tours run in light rain, fog, or shine. In the case that a tour is canceled due to extreme weather, you will be given the opportunity to join a future tour.

What time is my tour?
You will set your tour time when making your reservation.

Is parking available?
No. There are no onsite parking facilities available. It is recommended that guests park at one of the many lots and garages nearby or utilize public transportation.

What should I wear for the tour?
Closed-toed shoes are required for tour participation. Wearing an extra layer such as a light jacket is ideal for the San Francisco weather.

Will I be taught how to ride a Segway?
Yes. All riders are thoroughly trained prior to the tour. Training instruction includes safe Segway operation, emergency stops, a safety cone course, and the “Share the Road” policy overview. Every rider is required to wear a helmet and wear a bright safety vest.
