"4 p.m. Bay Cruise - Wonderful!"

We took the 4 p.m. Bay cruise as we wanted to catch the bridge near sunset. Although the bay was quite choppy and it was very windy and cold, the large boat gave us a fairly smooth cruise. They provide a lot of information about the city and the islands and there is plenty of opportunity to get some great pictures. The cruise takes you right to the bridge and back. Plenty of indoor space if its cold out. Well worth the trip!

$23 round trip for an adult to Sausalito and back. * The panoramic views of the area from the boat are very scenic. We went past alcatraz island, stopped at Angel island, Tiburon, then finally Sausalito. * I'd recommend taking a sweatshirt along, the ferry ride was cold, but worth it to sit outside. * I'd also recommend selecting a non-windy day for the ride or the waves could make it a bumpy journey. Taking along binoculars would have been great too. * Enjoy the ride!

"great view from the bow"

We enjoyed being on the water and seeing both bridges of the bay and the view of Alcatraz, I thought the information coming from the ship speakers should be louder or have more speakers, as we missed some of the valuable info that would've made it a better learning experience for everyone, but other than that... the staff was great, it was reasonably priced, and tours ran on time, thanks for providing an efficient service

"Expensive, one time experience to get to Tiburon"

Wanted the experience of being in the bay on a nice day. However, we would have done Angel Island, but in my planning if we caught the first ferry to Angel Island, we'd be there for 6 hours before we could come back to Pier 41 due to the limited weekend schedule. I didn't want to stay that long that particular day, so we opted for Tiburon. Planned this a few months ago and the weather turned out nice, so it was perfect to be on the water this day. The ride over was cold with wind, but the ride back at 2pm was pleasant. It was a nice boat ride, but $23 round trip for the ticket per person and after paying for parking in the Fisherman's wharf vicinity on a weekend parking rate with no early arrival discounts to park, it was steep way to get to Tiburon. I will happily drive next time.

I grew up in the bay area and had never done this until we just went with our family. It was included in our SF City Pass. It was 1 hour. We got our tickets in the morning and then walked and shopped along the pier. We were told to get in line 30-45 minutes before boarding. It had a huge line and we wound around clear back to the end of the pier. It was slow loading since they stopped everyone and took their picture in front of a big green board. Then they printed a picture with a scenic view behind you to buy for around $40. Our picture was great but I thought the price was more than I wanted. The cost of the cruise is regularly $31 for adults and you can find coupons at the visitor center on pier 39 (second floor) that will save you $5 per person. Or buy it in a pass. They had a recorded narration that told about everything as you viewed it. That was very informative and interesting. We went to the front of the boat and stood and watched from there. It was a sunny, clear day so that was nice. (Not always the case.)Even then we were glad we had jackets. You can sit inside if you get cold. We opted for the view. It seats a lot of people and we didn't feel crowded. Another option would be to buy the "city and sea pass" that includes a bay cruise and 1 day on the hop on hop off bus ($60). We plan to do that in February since we won't have a car.
