"Sausalito to SF pier"

To whom it may concern, On May 22, 2018 on the 2:40 ferry from Sausalito my wife and I boarded a Blue and Gold ferry with our bicycles. The two crew members were tactless, rude, bellicose and very unprofessional. The boat was only 20% full and these gentleman were “herding” the bike people in like cattle. Pressuring us to virtually push the people in front of us out of the way. “You don’t need your helmet” one yelled to a (paying) customer. Then proceeded to throw a helmet and a few bikes on the stack of bikes being leaned up on one another. I have a $1,800 bike. I’m glad he didn’t reach for mine. But I was told that I was “ holding up the entire line “ of about 4 people left behind me as I was releasing my pannier. I can imagine inmates are treated with more respect by guards. I understand that we can’t use kickstands or locks, but this went way beyond that! Upon completing the military drill Sargent’s orders, the two crew met at their door and waited for about 10 minutes, while the patrons were standing by incredulously. What is the point of haranguing all these people into the boat to what, hurry up and wait? Then we had to wait in line (in the cargo hold) to purchase tickets. I missed half the ride to the harbor, which was part of or plan for the day. If tickets were available on shore it would have alleviated that scenario. I wanted to complain to the person collecting the fee for tickets, but I was taken aback by his appearance. He was wearing a black leather jacket and a wool hipster hat of some kind. He looked like a New York thug. My assumption then was that this entire company is comprised of thugs and bullies. Like us, most of these passengers are attempting to enjoy a nice day. This experience made that impossible. We visit S.F. annually and don’t plan to return to Sausalito again. If we do, Blue and Gold will NOT be a return option. I’m really surprised at the lack of bike stowage. The other company has “on board” racks of some kind if I remember correctly. Multi speed bikes have way too many delicate components to be stacking them atop each other. It’s my opinion that Gold and Blue needs to train their people to be courteous and more helpful at stowing the bikes in a moré conducive fashion, like head to toe. Or purchase the proper bike racks. You have a website and use social media. What’s the point of spending revenue on that and then treat your patrons so horribly?

Paid $33 for a one hour tour that lasted only 50 mins. They take you out under the Golden Gate Bridge and day immediately turn around. Then you drive by Alcatraz and head down to near the ferry terminal and back to port. They have narration but you can barely hear it. By the time you hear about a landmark you already passed it 5 minutes ago. I think I deserve a refund.

"Really Worth It"

We took this 1 hour round trip, passing Alcatraz and getting relatively close on the return, which gave us some great views and photo opportunities. Getting up and close to the bridge was brilliant, an amazing structure. There was an audio, but my only criticism is if you are outside it is difficult to follow the commentary. However it was good value for money and a great opportunity to see the bridge from a different perspective.
